GINNY DENNY
Artist and Deisgner
The definition of vulnerability is to feel exposed to the possibility of being personally attacked or harmed. It can be perceived as exclusively situational, however I interpret it differently. Vulnerability is authenticity and honesty, and it exists as a constant. This regular fear has suppressed emotions that should be naturally addressed, processed, accepted, and let go. Instead I have imprisoned them for the sake of self-preservation. Identity is often questioned, and emotions are difficult to accept, and thus have been ignored.
This show is raw expression, and a regurgitation of the thoughts I have long suppressed. I have exposed my vulnerabilities to not only unburden myself, but also invite others to find comfort in visual discussion. As an artist I find importance in creative and emotional expression, and though I have experience in the commercial world, I prefer to utilize my skills for thoughtful discussion. I saw my graduating show as an opportunity to express myself in a way I deemed the most authentic for myself. The work I created reflects my own personal values and identity. I incorporated multiple mediums into each piece to make it as chaotic as possible. Emotions are as confusing as they are terrifying.
