Camille McCain (b. 1998 Baltimore, Maryland) is a portrait painter who fell in love with the stories behind old master paintings created during the late 14th and 15th century. In her history classes she saw little to any representation of minorities as a focal point. She created a series of work in response to this by replacing the main subjects with people of color. With todays social climate she finds it important to put those who were never featured in the originals directly in the spotlight in ways she has never seen before.
